Healing Rain – I am not afraid!

This morning as I was listening to the song “Healing Rain/Let it Rain” by Michael W. Smith, I was overcome by compassion for so many people. A lot of people came to mind, starting with myself. It is a song that carries so much healing power and a lot of people would benefit from it.

You can watch it here.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mz12DuTGC0Q  Share it with anyone who you think needs to hear it.

I believe we all want the same things – faith, hope, and love. The need for these ideals manifests differently in our unique individual lives. But in large part they are at the core of who we and they shape our lives; our joy, our fulfillment, our dreams, and our families, and our legacy.

If we allow it, the hurt or pain we have experienced in our past and the mistakes we make along our individual journeys, can erode our faith, our hope, and our love. It doesn’t happen overnight, but over a long period of time. It is subtle, and therefore un-alarming. We never notice the erosion, until the effects manifest in our external lives – in our outlook on life, our joy, our energy and passion for life.

When we do notice, it is rarely an aha moment. It is more a slow realization that things aren’t quite working out the way you imagined in your life. This can take time. It can be several years of alternating feelings of denial, confusion, and hopefully acknowledgment.

For a while, I carried my past as a burden. Now I carry it as a teacher and instructor. I realized I could only use my past in two ways; to help my future or to deter my future. I also realized I had to make a conscious decision as to which way I was going to use my past, because if I did not, I defaulted to carrying it as a burden.

But first I had to heal. I had to forgive myself for all the mistakes I have made in the past. I had to forgive any hurt or pain caused by others. I had to heal. And to heal, I had to NOT BE AFRAID, to examine by past.

That is why I believe this song is so powerful. For the healing rain to fall, you have to SHED the FEAR. I AM NOT AFRAID! You have to fearlessly confront and examine your past, your mistakes, your hurt and pain. And when the rain falls, you have to put down the umbrella. You have to let the rain fall on you. Have you ever been caught in the middle of a rain storm with no umbrella and you got soaking wet?

Healing rain from God is like no storm you have ever experienced. It is much more. It is a love and healing storm. It will drench you. Your tears will fall with the rain and with them your hurt and your pain. It will not happen overnight, but if you stop being afraid and allow God to heal you, he will.

How do you carry your past, as a burden or a teacher? Is it propelling you into your future with joy, love, energy and passion for life? If it is not, I encourage you to make a conscious decision to seeking healing from your past. Declare today – I AM NOT AFRAID. Examine your past and forgive yourself. You are not alone.

You deserve the life you imagined for yourself – full of faith, hope and love. You deserve a life full of energy and passion, full of joyful and loving relationship, and full of health and abundance. It is never too late. Your life is ahead of you. As long as it is, you should do everything within your power to make it the best. God will do the rest.

I am rooting for you. I hope soon you will be able to shout, as Michael does in the video – HEALING RAIN – I AM NOT AFRAID! Tears of joy not hurt streaming down your face.

Stay Inspired

Peter
